Online Examination

The AFCAT exam pattern is as follows:

EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test)

AFCAT 2024 Exam Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidates must be citizens of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.

AFCAT 2024 Age Limit

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of 1st January 2024. (Candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) are relaxable up to 26 years)
  • Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years as of 1st January 2024.

AFCAT 2024 Educational Qualifications

  • Flying Branch:
    • Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.
    • A minimum of three years’ graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:
    • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years’ degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University.
    • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years’ degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch:
    • Administration & Logistics: Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Accounts: B.Com degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Education: MBA/MCA or MA/MSc degree in English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relation with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all papers put together in Post-Graduation.

Marital Status

  • Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.
  • Widows/Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible.

Physical and Medical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit as per the prescribed physical standards of the Indian Air Force. Some of the general requirements include:

  • Height and Weight: The minimum acceptable height for ground duty branches will be 157.5 cm for men and 152 cm for women and for the flying branch minimum acceptable height is 162.5 cm for both male and female.
  • Vision: The minimum vision standard for the Flying Branch is 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia.
  • Hearing: Candidates must have normal hearing, i.e., able to hear a forced whisper at 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental Health: Healthy gums, a good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points are essential.
  • General Health: The candidate must be free of any disease or disability which can interfere with the efficient performance of duties.
